I am a Willow Weaver running workshops for adults across Norfolk and beyond!
I enjoy making bird feeders and smaller garden ornaments like Dragonflys and Flowers. I also enjoy making baskets, although I don’t consider myself a ‘basket maker’. My baskets are perhaps still a bit ‘wonky’ and not up to the skills of many basket makers I know, I still have a lot to learn and practice ! If I put my mind to it, I can make not so wonky baskets and love to try out different weaving techniques.
I’ve always loved trying different crafts, but when I made a willow Dragonfly at a workshop (back in 2014) I caught the willow weaving bug and wanted to make huge willow sculptures!
After moving to Norfolk soon after, I found several workshops and regular classes where I could learn and improve my weaving skills. I loved making baskets and trying different weaves, I was fascinated.
I shared my enthusiasm for willow with a group of business friends, teaching them to make Christmas decorations and much to my surprise found I enjoyed teaching – not something I had ever considered!
That’s where my journey to running various workshops started, which fitted in well with my main job as a self-employed gardener at the time.
